About a year ago I and haven't done anything as far as updating. so I will share a little of what has happened in the last year.
May-June 2010 Earlier in the year I had been in a car accident which messed up my back and led me to chiro and PT 3 times a week, so during this I caught pneumonia went to the er got some antibiotics, turns out they were a Peds dose of antibiotics this didn't stop the pneumonia so a about a week later getting sicker, unable to breathe I go to the ER again, turns out my Pneumonia has now turned into two collapsed lungs and I am Being admitted. next thing I know I'm in ICU and they let me know there having difficulty slowing down my heart so at a pulse of 150 and a respiratory rate of 28-30 I'm a busy guy. eventually my pulse slows they get me breathing better with nebulizers q 2 hours. and all during this time I'm pretty much bossing them around because as the old adage goes Nurses make the worst patients. eventually I get on prednisone and it shoots my blood sugars into the 3-400 range.eventually everything mellowed out and after an 8 day stay in bed, i had to learn how to use my leg muscles again, that hurt.
the rest of the summer was filled with doctor office visits and chiropractor visits and physical therapy visits. FYI I have a diagnosis of depression and anxiety. i know who doesn't right! well in trying to figure the right concoction of big pharma soup a lot of things internally are going on from not being able to cope, to shutting down, to freaking out and becoming delusional but thankfully after some INTENSE interventions i was able to get back working as a RN again and have been there since September. about December I went to a seminar be Dr. Korn that talked about Bariatric surgery and what it is. I made the decision that i may be a good candidate for this procedure. so i know i needed to get healthy I'M 28 HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD AND A 7 YEAR OLD I'M NOT READY TO DIE! i told myself the things that are happening to me shouldn't, the neglect that i have given my body is astronomical and needs to change in January when i had my first consult I was 367 pounds the Heaviest i had ever been in my life during the visit he told me that they really base the diet around the South Beach Diet.
so i started thinking about the south beach diet and didn't really put allot of effort into it, so the next visit came in about a month and Dr. Korn's pa was with me today she was great! she was uplifting she had handouts! she was telling me what i should be doing, and not that it should be perfect by try a little at a time and not to get discouraged. with this pep talk under my belt i went to the place that i always love to shop, the thrift store.. i found the book there for like 2$ and started reading. and so began my life changing journey of the south beach diet!
